Maternity {Concord, CA} Bay Area Portrait Photography

I had the privilege to take Meg's maternity photos just over a month ago. Plus being a dog person myself I had to include the dogs that came to investigate what we were doing.  She is beautiful and just glows while pregnant.  I cannot wait to meet the ninja baby!!!!!

I Came with Fear & Expectations Day 1

I don’t even know where to start in describing the experience I had this past weekend at Me Ra Koh’s Confidence Workshop in Oakland, CA. I walked into that room shy, nervous, and a little scared, but when I left on Sunday night that shyness was gone, the nervousness was gone, and my scares have all changed, all for the better. I am so excited to take the next step in not only my life, but also in my career. I was especially honored when Me Ra used one of my photos taken during the workshop on her newest blog post. I smiled and cried at the same time.
Me Ra and Brian thank you so much for being you. Thank you for caring, for loving and for sharing with us. No words can describe how honored I am to have attended this weekend and how much I learned. Check out some of the photos I took day 1...

I Want to be Just Like My Big Brother {SF Bay Area} Photography

My little boy wants to be so much like his big brother.  Most of the time it is so cute at other times I know he drives his brother crazy,  but it is moments like this that just make my heart grow.  I love my boys and I love the fact that they get along.

Big Changes!!

Today was a big day for me.  I have been growing out my hair for over a year and it was finally long enough, 10 inches, to donate to Locks of Love.  This was a big deal as my hair hasn't been this short in a really long, long time.  You have no idea what a feeling it was to have that ponytail cut off.  Many people told me that I would be really upset, but I have to say I was so excited it didn't even faze me.  I was also told that K might cry since he is young and won't like the change.  I have to say he totally loved it and even told me I looked so pretty.  That made me feel good.  So off to the Post Office I go to mail my hair off to FL for Locks of Love.

Preschool Photos - Preshool Ad {Walnut Creek} Creativity

So I never really think of myself as being creative, but I am.  I really am creative and try to do the best that I can.  I was asked by my son's preschool if I could use the photos that I have taken over the years and make an ad.  So I did and I have to say that I had a lot of fun.  Thank you J and A for letting me do what I do.

I have to say I am really loving getting this creative side out.  Maybe I'll start a side business helping people do ads for their businesses.

Baby J {6 months} Baby Photographer - Oakland

I had the privilege of taking photos of the K Family last weekend.  I was a little nervous while driving there as this was the 1st photo shoot I was doing that were not friends or family. Plus I had not met them yet.  All I can say is it was a wonderful experience and I really had a great time.  Here is just a quick sneak peek of a couple of my favorites of Mr J.  Don't you just love those blue eyes.

I just had to play with this one.  I love black and white photos with just a hint of color!

Thank you so much K & M for welcoming me into your home and letting me meet Mr. J.

Ahhh the Prom, the 80s Prom. . .

80s

What can I say about the 80s.

What do I remember about the 80s:

Side ponytails, pastels, neon, lace fingerless gloves.

This last weekend was the 80s Prom from our sign me up party from the Buena Vista Elementary Auction. I had so much fun and I got to shoot all the Prom pictures. Check it out!!!!

Don't you just love the makeup-up the crimped hair and the pastel blue.

Check out the rainbow here.

Even Romy & Michelle showed up for some fun!!!!

We all had a great time!!! Party on!!!!!

I Heart Faces Photowalk Across America in Sacramento

Today I was so lucky to be a part of the I Heart Faces Walk Across America.

After waking up a 6am and actually getting up out of bed (no snooze button this morning) then on the road for Sacramento by 7am I was raring and so happy to be going, but then of course the nerves take over. I was so nervous, 1st because I got lost, but mostly because I really didn’t know what to expect and what was expected of me. Well, all I can say was my nervousness disappeared as soon as we stopped at the 1st location on the walk, because I had SO MUCH FUN! I got to meet so many wonderful ladies.

Our leader for the day, a completely wonderful lady named Katrina Kennedy (all the way on the left pointing), was so awesome! She was so patient with everyone we all asked her questions about our cameras, exposure, basically everything under the sun. I am looking forward to learning more from her! Katrina brought along the most wonderful model, Marina, who was the sweetest young lady.

It was challenging and funny at times to get a picture with so many of us trying to get that perfect shot. I heard there were 26 of us. But we all learned to be respectful of each other.

Now... I have to just pick my 3 favorite shots to enter into the I Heart Faces Community. I really have NO idea which ones to choose as they are all my favs. I did have 257 photos narrowed down to just these 27 for my photostream. Check them out at my Flickr page. If you click here you can check out all the different photos from across America that were taken on the I Heart Faces Photowalk.

I would love your comments and critique! Thank you.

Playing with my camera - Less is More

Okay you all know that I love photography.  That I feel alive when the camera is in my hands and I am taking photos of people through the lens.  As some of you know I applied for a scholarship through the SOAR! with Me Ra Koh.  I didn't get the scholarship, but I have joined the SOAR! Soarority and we get to follow along with what the recipients get to do.  The latest exercise is the "Less is More."  This is one of my most favorite ways to tell a story.
Little K is just perfect person for this.  He just does things that you really don't need the whole image to know what story is being told.  Tell me what you think.

Then I just couldn't resist Mr G's face here.  We were cutting down leaves for the silkworms and he was just concentrating so hard.

The start to a whole new world

Follow my blog with bloglovin Today is the day.  I have been thinking about starting a blog for my own business for months now, but of course I have been so busy to just sit down and get it done. Or I just wasn't sure my business was going to take off.  But it has now taken off and I feel justified in sharing my experiences and photos.
Just last month I got to take all the pictures for the BV Auction at my son's school.  Now this was a great experience and it also taught me a lot.  I love taking pictures of kids, yeah families are great don't get me wrong, but KIDS they are just so real and once you get them to relax the joys of reality really shine through.  These are just a few of my favorites, but there are a lot more. . .

Aren't these boys just so cute?

Can you believe Miss M wanted nothing to do with Mr C that day.
Isn't this the cutest family?
These twins normally want nothing to do with each other. Thank goodness threats work.
This guy is just the too cute for words.
I just love brothers and sisters that like each other and get along.  It shows thru in the pictures.
The same with these brothers.

As you can see I am just loving what I am doing and cannot wait to share more with you.

Always the last minute

Sometimes I wonder if our last name should be changed to "in the final hour"  G's Science Fair is Tuesday night and we finally grew the crystals on Saturday, thank goodness for 6 hour crystal trees.  So we took pictures every 30 minutes.  I also got to play with my D100 and 50mm lens.  I have finally almost got it down.  Check these pictures out.

One for the road

On the way out of town, I had the luck of doing a session with the P family.  I took pictures of the the 2 younger kids for auction, but now I got to take pictures of all 3 kids.  Here are some of my favs of J, T and M.  Little M is so cute with her big brothers.
I even edited a couple with some funky looks.  I love the one with the b/w and green background. What do you think?
This one has a tint added.  Kind of a little retro to me.

Well vacation is finally over and I got some great shot while gone.  It is hard work when you are working with your own kids and even harder when it is the end of the day and tempers are very thin.
